Regional Elementary Skills Competition

March 11, 2019

For the first time, 288 Durham District School Board students in Grades 4 to 8 will gather at Children's Arena in Oshawa to compete to qualify for a spot in the Skills Ontario Elementary Provincial Competition. Grades 4 to 6 will compete in the Lego Robotics, VEX Robotics (students design and create robots to perform tasks using Lego and VEX kits) and Technology: Design and Build challenges. Grades 7 and 8 will compete in the same challenges, in a separate category, with the addition of the Construction challenge.

Of the roughly 70 teams competing at this regional competition, only eight teams will qualify to move on to the Skills Ontario Provincial competition held in Toronto in May.

Skills Ontario competitions inform and engage youth in the world of skilled trades and technologies.
