Bruce Mather Award​
The award was established following the retirement of former Durham District School Board Director of Education, Bruce Mather, who served from 1984 to 1989. The prize is awarded annually to a staff member or staff team having made an exceptional contribution to the growth of others. 

The award is presented annually to an individual or team. 

All nominees will be recognized and receive a certificate. The winner will receive a plaque which will be presented at the September Board meeting. A cash award is granted to be allocated by the winner in manner related to his/her project or program.
 
Nominations are accepted from anyone in the system through Superintendents of Education to the Director of Education by May 31st of each year.

 

Educational Services Staff Award
At the June 2013 Board meeting, the Board approved the establishment of an annual Education Services Staff Award.   This award is to recognize a staff member/team affiliated with CUPE, consisting of office-clerical-technical staff, custodial and maintenance staff, and Educational Assistants.  These staff support the safe operation of schools, keep our schools clean and systems operating, and provide program support to teachers and students.  This award will provide the Board with the opportunity to recognize an educational services staff member who has made an exceptional contribution to the support of students, schools or the growth of others in the Board.

Nominations may be made by any person in the Board either electronically or by hard copy and should be forwarded to the Office of the Director by June 30, or by e-mail to: karen.douglas@ddsb.ca

A decision relating to the winner will be made by a Committee consisting of the Chair of the Board, the Vice Chair, Superintendent of Employee Relations, and the CUPE President and will be announced at the October Board meeting. 

All nominees will be recognized with a certificate.  The winner will receive a plaque and $500 to be allocated by the winner related to his/her project or initiative.
