Definitely Durham is the Durham District School Board's (DDSB) Hall of Fame, celebrating and
showcasing the successes of former DDSB students and public education in our community.

The Durham District School Board has provided quality public education to thousands of students in
our community. In order to showcase and celebrate the successes of public education, the DDSB has
established a Hall of Fame, known as, Definitely Durham. Notable former students have an opportunity
to be highlighted and recognized with a nomination from community members, former classmates,
neighbours, friends and / or family.


 
2016 Inductees
 

Definitely Durham is the District's ​hall of fame, celebrating and showcasing the successes​​ of former DDSB students an​d public education in our community.​

Perdita Felicien
Perdita Felicien is a two-time Olympian, 10-time National Champion and the only Canadian woman to win a World Championship gold medal in track and field. During her career as a 100-metre hurdler she earned numerous honours, including Canada’s Athlete of the Year, Keys to the City of Pickering, and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.
 
Rex Grignon
As Head of Character Animation at DreamWorks for 18 years, Rex Grignon has been a pioneer in the field of computer animation.​
 
​​Governor Stephen S. Poloz
Stephen S. Poloz was appointed Governor of the Bank of Canada, effective June 2013, for a term of seven years. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He currently chairs both the BIS Audit Committee and the Consultative Council for the Americas.
 

Definitely Durham gives our region and DDSB public schools
an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of students
who have passed through our doors," said Chair of the Durham District School Board, Michael Barrett. "Our honourees this year continue to expand the variety of endeavours our students are engaged in. They also continue to be exceptional role models who have accomplished a great deal in their chosen fields," adds Barrett.

 

We have three very distinctive and outstanding honourees
to induct into this year's Definitely Durham Hall of Fame,"
said Director of Education, Lisa Millar.

"We are pleased to be celebrating them and their achievements
which have led fellow Durham citizens to nominate them
for this award," said Millar.
